Stove top Caramel Popcorn
This is a variation to original salted popcorn.. I tasted this for the first time at Genting Highlands.. The taste was awesome!! My husband and my kid liked it very much.. We ended up buying a handful of caramel popcorn packets...Tried this recipe after returning back home.. The result was amazing.. Give a try to this sweet popcorn sometime..
Ingredients:
Corn Kernels - 1 cup
Oil - 3 tbsp
Brown Sugar - 3 tbsp
Procedure:
- Take a heavy bottom cooker.. Add cooking oil to it.
- Once its hot, add kernels, and Brown sugar.
- Close the cooker lid in opposite direction .. This is done to allow the steam to escape from the cooker so that popcorn will be crispier and dry.
- You will hear popcorn popping.. Gently shake the cooker to prevent kernels lying down from getting burnt.
- Once popping slows to several seconds between pops, switch off the flame and transfer the popcorn to a wide bowl.
- You can add normal white sugar, if you couldn't find brown sugar.
- I added only 3 tbsp.. But if you want the popcorn more sweet and more caramelized add 2 tbsp extra..
- Enjoy your popcorn!!
