Potato Bread Sandwich

Potato Bread Sandwich
How many Sandwich lovers there??  Today's recipe is very much Indianized Potato sandwich. This recipe is for those, who prefers Indian flavor in everything.. Its very easy to prepare too.. Give a try to this recipe once for a hassle free, tasty and fulfilling breakfast.
The recipe follows..

Yields : 2 Sandwiches


Preparation Time : 20 minutes


Ingredients:


Potato                    - 2 (Medium size)
Big Onion             - 1
Bread Slices          - 4
Chopped Ginger   - 2 tsp
Green Chili           - 2
Salt                        - As required
Chili Powder         - 1/4 tsp
Cumin Powder      - 1/4 tsp
Garam Masala       - 1/4 tsp
Coriander Leaves  - few
Oil                          - for toasting (optional)

Procedure:

  • Boil potatoes. Chop finely Big onion, Ginger, Green chili and Coriander leaves.
  • Take a bowl. Add boiled potatoes to it. Add also Big onion, Ginger, Green Chili, Coriander leaves, salt, chili powder, cumin powder and Garam  masala powder to it.
  • Smash and mix everything well.
  • Stuff it in between breads and toast it using a toaster or using a dosai pan.
  • When its done on one side, carefully flip it over to the other. Enjoy your Sandwich hot after its done on both sides.

Besan Bread Toast (No Egg Toast)

Besan Bread Toast (No Egg Bread Toast) Today's recipe is No Egg Bread Toast.. Bread dipped in Besan flour batter and its toasted. I have added onion and tomato to the Besan flour batter. You can also add Capsicum if you wish. The recipe follows..

Preparation Time : 10 minutes


Ingredients:


Bread Slices                     - 2
Besan Flour                     - a handful (Kadalai Maavu)
Chopped Big Onion         - 2 tbsp
Chopped Tomato             - 2 tbsp
Salt                                   - As required
Turmeric Powder             - a pinch
Chili Powder                    - 1/4 tsp
Corinader Leaves             - few
Curry Leaves                    - few
Oil                                     - 1 tbsp

Procedure:

  • Make sure Big onion, Tomato, coriander leaves and Curry leaves are finely chopped. You can use also capsicum if you wish.
  • I have used Whole wheat bread for the recipe. You can use any type of bread.
  • Take a bowl. Add Besan flour, salt, Turmeric powder and chili powder to it. Whisk it well so that no lumps are formed. Add also chopped vegetables to the bowl. Mix everything well.
  • Take a Bread slice, Dip in the bowl. Take out immediately and cook it in a Dosai pan. 
  • Add oil to the bread. When Bread is cooked on both sides take it out from pan and Enjoy it hot.

I am not a fan of  regular Sweet French Toast. Used to prepare sweet French Toast  often since my kid and Husband loves it. Tried  this Masala French Toast recipe once. From then on wards, this has become my favorite recipe. This toast recipe really melts you down..

Recipe For : 4 Breads 

Preparation Time : 10 minutes

Ingredients:

Bread Slices             - 4
Egg                           - 1
Boiled Milk              - 1/4 cup
Ginger- Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
Big Onion                 - 1 (small)
Chopped Capsicum  - a handful
Green Chili               - 1
Salt                           - As required
Turmeric Powder     - a pinch
Pepper Powder         - 1/4 tsp
Coriander Leaves     - few
Oil                             - for bread.

Procedure:

  • Chop finely Big Onion, Capsicum,Green chili and coriander leaves.
  • Take a bowl. Add egg to it. Beat it well till its fluffy. 
  • Add Boiled milk and Beat it together. Adding milk gives softness to the toast.
  • Add  Ginger garlic paste, salt, turmeric powder, pepper powder and chopped vegetables to the bowl and mix everything well.
  • Take a Bread slice, Dip in the bowl. Take out immediately and cook it in a Dosai pan. 
  • Add oil to the bread. When Bread is cooked on both sides take it out from pan and Enjoy it hot.

Another interesting recipe with left-over bread... Bread Uppuma.. I would say its one of  the evening snacks.  You can prepare this in a jiffy. Here goes the recipe..

Serves        : 1 person

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients: 

Bread Slices              - 2
Mustard Seeds          - 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal                   - 1/4 tsp
Channa Dal               - 1/4 tsp
Dry Red Chili           - 1
Big Onion                 - 1 (small)
Curry Leaves            - few
Salt                            - As required
Turmeric Powder      - a pinch
Oil                             - As required

Procedure:

  • Break bread slices and add to a blender. Blend it for a few seconds just to crumble the bread. I have used Multi-grain bread. You can use any Bread of your choice. 
  • Chop big onion finely.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and Urad dal to it. 
  • When they splutter add Big onion and curry leaves to it. You can also add grated carrot and cabbage and chopped capsicum at this stage.
  • When they are translucent, add crumbled bread.
  • Add enough salt and turmeric powder.
  • Saute for a minute and then serve it immediately. 
  • Enjoy your Bread Uppuma hot..

An interesting snack recipe with Left-Over Bread... We may have left over Bread, at some point of time..  Give a try to this Chili Bread then.. When ever i prepare this snack, there will always be tug of war between my kid and my husband.

Here is that exciting recipe..

Ingredients:

Bread Slices                  - 2
Big Onion                     - 1
Garlic Pods                   - 5
Tomato ketchup           - 2 tsp
Chili Sauce                  - 2 tsp
Salt                              - As required
Oil                               - As required

Procedure:

  • Chop Bread into bigger pieces.
  • Chop finely Big onion and garlic.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add onion and garlic to it. 
  • After the onions are little cooked, add in tomato ketchup and chili sauce.
  • Add also chopped bread and toss well..
  • Saute for five more minutes and serve it hot..
  • Your delicious instant Bread snack is ready!!!

Having left over bread?? Don't know what to do with that.??. My first suggestion would be Bread Uthapam.. In few minutes, you can convert left-over bread to a delicious Breakfast recipe!!!

I have used Whole Wheat bread and  added Wheat flour for binding. I have also added vegetables ,  thus making it a wholesome healthy Breakfast.

Ingredients: (Recipe For 5 Uthapam)


Bread Slices            - 3
Wheat Flour            - 1/4 cup
Samba Rava            - 2 tbsp
Curd                        -  3 tbsp
Big Onion               - 1
Grated Carrot          - a handful
Grated Cabbage      - a handful
Capsicum                - 1/4
Chopped Ginger      - 1 tsp
Green Chilli             - 1
Salt                          - As required
Gingely Oil              - For Uthapam

Procedure:

  • Powder Bread using Blender (Mixie). Chop Finely Big onion, Capsicum, Green chilli and Ginger.
  • Take a bowl. Add powdered  Bread, samba rava and wheat flour to it. 
  • Add curd, enough salt and water to the bowl and mix it. Add enough water to make the batter of dosa batter consistency.
  • Add chopped onion, green chilli, ginger, capsicum and grated vegetables to the batter. Your Uthapam batter is ready now.
  • Heat a dosa pan. spray some oil on it. 
  • Add batter to the pan.. Expand  it like for Uthapam...  The measurement which i have given is fine for me. If you couldn't expand uthapam properly, you can add some more wheat flour...Spray some Gingelly oil.
  • Once its done on one side, carefully turn to the other side.
  • When both sides are cooked serve it hot with Sambar and Chutney Of your Choice.

This is the sandwich which is very much spicy and very much Indianized.. We used to get this type of sandwiches in local bakeries. . We personally wanted Indian flavor in all the food we eat.. and this sandwich is for those who wants Indian taste in all the foods..
For stuffing i have used carrots and cabbage.. I have also added Green Chutney and Tomato Ketchup for extra taste.. You can prepare this sandwich in less than 15 minutes.. Here is that easy healthy and tasty sandwich..

Ingredients: (For 2 sandwiches)


Bread Slices        - 4
Green Chutney    - 1 tbsp
Tomato Ketchup  - 1 tbsp


For Stuffing:


Grated Carrot                   - 1/4 cup
Grated Cabbage              - 1/4 cup
Chopped Big Onion         - 1
Ginger Garlic Paste         - 1 tbsp
Salt                                    - As required
Turmeric Powder              - 1/4 tsp
Chilli Powder                    - 1/2 tsp
Coriander Powder             - 1/2 tsp
Cumin Powder                  - 1/4 tsp
Garam Masala Powder     - 1/2 tsp
Corinader Leaves             - few

Procedure:

  • Heat oil in a pan.. When the oil is hot, add chopped onions.. Once onions become translucent, add ginger garlic paste.
  • Add grated carrots and cabbage.. Saute for 3-5 minutes and add in all the powders except garam masala powder.
  • Saute it for another 5 minutes.. Switch off the flame and add garam masala powder.Now the stuffing is ready..
  • Toast the bread slices and keep everything ready

  • Take a bread slice.. Place the stuffing. Top it with Green chutney and Tomato Ketchup. Close it with another slice.. There you are done!! Your sandwich is ready..
  • I have used Brown bread.. Use what ever bread you want..
