Ven Pongal
Its a healthy nutrition food, best for breakfast..Very simple to prepare..
Ingredients:
Pachharisi - 1 cup (Raw rice)
Moong Dal - 1/4 cup (Pasi Parupu)
Salt - To Taste
For Seasoning:
Oil / Ghee - 2 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp ( Kadugu)
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp (Seeragam)
Black Pepper - 1 tsp (Milagu)
Coriander Leaves - Few
Curry Leaves - Few
Procedure:
- Dry Roast moong dal for some time, till it leaves nice aroma.. Soak both rice and moong dal for at-least 1 hr. You can soak the rice and moong dal before night and keep in fridge. Use 3 cups of water for 1 cup of rice. so I have used around 4 cups of water.
- Cook the rice in pressure cooker. Do the seasoning and add it to the rice.
- Pongal is ready!!
Quick Tips:
- My mom used to add garlic while seasoning.. You can add too if you like garlic. Can also add Cashew nuts.
- Trust me.. You needn't season pongal in ghee.. Can use normal cooking oil if you are in Diet..
