Its a healthy nutrition food, best for breakfast..Very simple to prepare..

Ingredients:

Pachharisi          - 1 cup    (Raw rice)
Moong Dal        - 1/4 cup  (Pasi Parupu)
Salt                    - To Taste

For Seasoning:

Oil / Ghee             - 2 tsp
Mustard Seeds      - 1 tsp  ( Kadugu)
Cumin Seeds         - 1 tsp  (Seeragam)
Black Pepper         - 1 tsp  (Milagu)
Coriander Leaves  - Few
Curry Leaves         - Few

Procedure:

  1. Dry Roast moong dal for some time, till it leaves nice aroma.. Soak both rice and moong dal for at-least 1 hr. You can soak the rice and moong dal before night and keep in fridge. Use 3 cups of water for 1 cup of rice. so I have used around 4 cups of water. 
  2. Cook the rice in pressure cooker. Do the seasoning and add it to the rice.
  3. Pongal is ready!!

Quick Tips:

  1. My mom used to add garlic while seasoning.. You can add too if you like garlic. Can also add Cashew nuts.
  2. Trust me.. You needn't season pongal in ghee.. Can use normal cooking oil if you are in Diet..
